Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: The location of the hotel/ motel is excellent if you want to have a beautiful meal, a few drinks, and not have to worry about driving. Parking for those wanting to dine in any of the excellent restaurants on the block was difficult to find, BUT for us staying at the hotel and parking in the guest's carpark, it was so easy. We ate at the Sports Bar on our first night - great food, great atmosphere, family-friendly but plenty of people eating and drinking without kids too. On subsequent nights, we had excellent meals at the small Italian restaurant, the Vietnamese restaurant and the Indian restaurant, all situated on the same block as the motel and ALL serving EXCELLENT food at reasonable prices. With a little grocery store, bakery and chemist also on the block, we only drove when we wanted to enjoy the beautiful things Byron Bay has to offer (like the markets and the lighthouse). The walk to the beach was a pleasant 8 minute walk. The lady who refreshed our towels was really friendly and upbeat, too. We also enjoyed that we had two areas where we could sit outdoors.

Negative: It's not a cheap place to stay and some people would expect the rooms to look more upmarket than they are. It was very clean, and well-situated, just not at all fancy.

Summary: I would happily stay there again
